Sound insulation could be a useful investment for people living near large windfarms.

With the government backing wind power to make a significant contribution to Britain's renewable energy capacity, larger wind farms are likely to become an increasingly common sight throughout the countryside.

Campaign groups have urged ministers to launch a review of existing noise pollution regulations, amid claims that the sound generated by turbines at the largest windfarms is causing a problem for nearby residents.

However, even if the pressure for a review leads to some action on the part of the government, it is likely to be some time before there is any change to the regulations.

In the meantime, people living near existing or planned wind farm projects can take advantage of acoustic windows, sound absorbing furniture or other sound insulation solutions to limit any interruptions to their lives.

Noise pollution is just one of the obstacles for windfarm developments, which also face opposition over bird strikes and their visible impact on the landscape.
