Saint-Gobain PAM UK Wins Gold Medal Contract For The 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games
Iron technology leader Saint-Gobain PAM UK, part of leading international materials company Saint-Gobain, has won a significant new contract to provide an innovative externally coated pipeline solution for the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
The project, worth £400,000, will see a Total Terrain (TT) externally coated pipeline supplied to the Athletes’ Village. Following a soil survey, the TT pipe protection system was specified because it features an extruded polyethylene barrier coating which completely separates the buried pipe from the surrounding ground and is therefore suitable for even the most aggressive soil conditions. The coating is applied to the length of the pipe, ensuring a reduction in joint wrapping post-installation and greater corrosion protection.
The pipeline solution will supply water to 1,200 units within the Athletes’ Village. Contracted by McNicholas Construction Services Ltd, Saint-Gobain PAM UK previously worked with the company on potable water supplies for other leading UK sporting events.

It is estimated that the project will take between six to nine months to complete.
