Acoustic insulation needs 'boosted by urban development'
26/01/2011 17:07:46
Increased demand for acoustic insulation is one building materials trend expected to arise from global urban development, a new study has suggested.
The research, compiled by Frost and Sullivan, revealed that a rise in the number of large metropolitan areas and seismic shifts in culture and climate will provide a boost for the sector.
Industry principal at the organisation Brian Balmer said: 'The growth of mega cities will stimulate growth for many chemical products such as glazing with added acoustic insulation.'
The firm added green construction will also become more common, with developed countries keen to create 'healthier buildings'.
This will include solutions such as odour-neutralising paints, Frost and Sullivan added, as well as structural elements including engineered plastics.
Similar comments were made by green construction expert Professor Neil Spiller earlier this month.
The head of the University of Greenwich's school of architecture and construction stated cladding materials made with sustainability in mind are going to become more commonplace in the future.
