Businesses 'will benefit' from green and sustainable buildings

Green and sustainable building regulations and targets are going to have a positive impact for businesses that work in the sector, one expert has claimed.
Spokesperson for the AEA Group Evan Williams said if the government wants to meet such ambitious carbon measures it is important it begins to take action now.
'Cutting CO2 emissions by 80 per cent by 2050 means three obvious things,' he said, adding it will require 'virtually' zero-carbon electricity, heating materials and transport.
'There are going to be huge opportunities for people that are engaged in delivering those things for us,' Mr Williams explained.
According to the expert, while many organisations may see increased regulation as an unnecessary burden, they are not seeing the benefits such changes will bring.
Earlier this year, Alistair Darling announced in his Budget that £60 million will be pumped into a number of renewable energy solutions, which he noted will create and support thousands of jobs in the sector over the coming years.
