HCVA reveals 2012 re-brand plans
13/12/2011
The HCVA will be re-branded to be known as the Building & Engineering Services Association after a large majority of its members backed the change.
This change will take effect from March 1, 2012, after more than 90% of members voted in favour at a special general meeting on December 8 in London.
HVCA president Bob Shelley explained during the introduction of the re-brand resolution that independent research found that its current name no longer covered the expanding services provided by members, which have moved beyond heating and ventilation.
He described how it falls short of indicating the impact members can have on the integration of engineering systems, with a particular focus on the move towards sustainable advancements.
Mr Shelley also explained that there will be more to the re-brand than just a simple name switch after a period of in-depth research.
"Following many months of research, discussion, consultation and engagement with the membership, and supported by branding and marketing professionals, my fellow officers and I reached the conclusion that - as part of a much more comprehensive Plan for Change and in order fully to reflect the Association's already broadened footprint - the time was right for the adoption of a new corporate identity," he said.
"I am delighted that the membership as a whole has taken the same view and given their wholehearted support to this bold and historic initiative."
