Boiler scrappage scheme 'will support jobs'

Scotland's new boiler scrappage initiative will enable people in the country to boost their energy-efficiency, while supporting the heating materials industry.
This is the opinion of the nation's housing and communities minister, Alex Neil, who stated Scotland is considered a 'champion' for green and sustainable buildings across the world.
He noted that the scheme has a dual purpose as it will enable residents to get rid of 'rickety old boilers' and replace them with new eco-friendly models.
'At the same time, we are providing an economic stimulus for the heating industry, supporting jobs and helping it get through this financially difficult time,' he added.
Maintaining Scotland's reputation for green living requires a push towards creating more green and sustainable buildings, Mr Neil explained.
Last week, the Scottish government announced its target of reducing the country's carbon dioxide emissions by 42 per cent before 2020 and introduced new measures in order to achieve this goal.
