Green and sustainable building message getting through

The message about green and sustainable building is getting through, according to a firm of architects.
As the need to limit the environmental impact of different types of property is understood by construction firms, house builders and private citizens, DJD Architects says more of its clients are talking about green practices.
"It is definitely much more on the public conscience," said James Pugh, DJD's associate director. "All the media is full of sustainability this and that and building regulations and the Code for Sustainable Homes.
"It is much more on people's minds and certainly domestic clients tend to like the idea of doing things that are good for the environment and are hopefully affecting their fuel bills at the same time," he added.
Residential and commercial property makes a significant contribution to Britain's carbon emissions.
As a result, the government has made it a priority to promote green and sustainable building practices for both new projects and the retrofitting of existing stock.
