Concerns over SuDS consultation delays

The new National Standards for Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS) could be hampered by delays, according to industry experts.
It is hoped that a fresh Government consultation on the national standards will provide the SuDS Approving Bodies with a new structure.
This should enable them to make decisions on how acceptable different drainage schemes are in relation to new development projects. However, experts have warned about the impact of delays on this consultation process.
For instance, British Water SuDS focus group chair Alex Stephenson is concerned that the Lead Local Flood Authorities have been put "on the back foot" as a result of the delay.
He added: "'It looks highly unlikely that the SAB roles will come into force as the Government originally intended in April 2012."
The budgets of local authorities could also reportedly be affected by delays to the consultation.
