Firm completes £15m health centre

Structural engineering firm BSP Consulting has unveiled what is thought to be the UK's first "sustainable urban drainage system" following its work on a £15m health centre in Blackpool.
The Derby-based firm's finished project at Moor Park Health and Leisure Centre includes three GP surgeries, Primary Care outpatient services, a gym and a swimming pool.
BSP worked with LSP Developments and the West Hart Partnership on the scheme. The team previously collaborated on a project in Grimsby, which took the HealthInvestor Property of the Year Award.
BSP project manager Paul Whittingham said: "The scheme at the Blackpool development is particularly unusual because it contains no underground surface water drainage.
"Therefore, all the surface water run-off from roofs and hard-standing areas is managed above ground through a combination of ponds and ditches which take the water away from the building and allows it to dissipate into the park area beyond."
