Wind power 'has triple benefits' for green and sustainable building
26/07/2010 15:52:06
The benefits of wind power in green and sustainable building projects are threefold for both energy generation itself and for the wider economy, industry association RenewableUK notes.
Responsible for promoting the interests of both wind and marine power generation, RenewableUK was formerly called the British Wind Energy Association and has over 400 corporate members.
Head of communications Nick Medic says: 'To some it might sound like hyperbole, but if you look at what we're really getting out of deploying wind energy, it's really threefold.'
The jobs and economic advantages produced through green and sustainable building projects involving wind installations are a directly visible effect.
Improvements in fuel sustainability - particularly in terms of increasing domestic production and reducing reliance on international imports - are collectively the second advantage.
Finally, the carbon reduction achieved through the use of renewable energy is the third element of the triple advantage put forward by wind power, Mr Medic says.
