Green and sustainable building regulations 'will help firms'

Green and sustainable building improvements may become more common in organisations, with one expert noting new regulations as a reason behind firms becoming increasingly eco-friendly.
Adrian Wilkes, founder and director of the Environmental Industries Commission, said policies will benefit all companies, not just those in the green sector.
'Pollution regulations will be good for the environmental solutions industry and good for the rest of industry, because businesses will become more efficient,' he remarked.
Speaking at the Sustainabilitylive! event at the Birmingham NEC Mr Wilkes added energy-efficiency is 'such an obvious thing' that all homes and offices should be making it a priority already.
The updated laws have now removed the previous problem that power prices were too low, he explained, while also introducing a cost for environmental damage.
Last week, a report by Mandaq predicted green and sustainable building procedures may start becoming indicators of an enterprise's future value.
