Windows and doors research 'shows growth opportunities'

The windows and doors industry contains a number of areas where growth can be achieved, a new study has revealed.
A report by Research and Markets found that despite housebuilding suffering from the economic downturn, firms can still benefit from fitting replacement fixtures.
It argued that while most original windows and doors have already been substituted previously, there is a growing requirement for these newer products to be again upgraded as developments continue.
The survey also pointed to the green and sustainable building sector, noting many companies are adopting such principles to get ahead of the competition.
Businesses should examine their material sources, recycling and final disposal procedures for their product ranges, it added.
Environmentally-friendly windows and doors may become a necessity as Building Regulations change to encourage better performance in this area, the organisation suggested.
The Dublin-based analyst firm estimated that the UK windows and doors market generated £5.6 billion in 2009.
