Solar panels 'a no brainer'

Solar panels are a 'no brainer' for any homeowner keen to improve their environmental credentials and cut their energy bills.
That is the view of green energy expert Tim Pullen, who backed solar panels as a sound investment.
"Solar panels work," he said at the Homebuilding and Renovating Show at the Birmingham NEC this week. "They sit there doing their bit without needing too much work for about 25 years.
"There are no good arguments, as far as I can see, for not having solar panels," he added.
The biggest barrier to solar panels for residential customers is the initial cost of installation.
To help, the government is keen to introduce special loans that homeowners could repay through their energy bills.
