Timber flooring materials 'offer classic style'

Wooden flooring materials can combine the feel and style of the natural materials with the demands of modern techniques such as under-floor heating, according to Carolyn Park.
The head of design practice at Carolyn Park Interior Design explains that timber flooring materials can accommodate under-floor heating - but that wood also proves desirable for other reasons.
"I would say it's more than popular; it's the style and feel and the fact that it is quality," she says.
There are also options to suit a variety of different budgets, with wood veneers offering the appearance of the genuine material itself but at a lower cost, she says.
Alternatively, towards the upper end of the scale, woods such as olive, macassar and wenge satisfy larger budgets.
Ms Park's designers also work with wood on bespoke furniture products, potentially using many different species of timber, which could highlight the flexibility of the material in multiple areas of interior design.
