Cladding work completed at Olympic broadcast centre

26/02/2010 13:07:52

Cladding work has been completed on the walls and roof of the Olympic broadcast centre.

External wall cladding and rooftop cladding has been added to the broadcast centre that will be used during the 2012 Olympics.

With the Games just over two years away, work on the state-of-the-art facility is on schedule.

Cladding work has now been completed, giving the broadcast centre a distinctive silver and white look.

"The 'big build' is on track as we enter our toughest year with work accelerating on infrastructure and venues across the Olympic Park," said John Armitt, chairman of the Olympic Delivery Authority.

"We're on schedule to provide a quality working environment for media during the Games and flexible employment space for a range of potential legacy tenants and users," he added.

The media and broadcasting centre has used cladding materials from Wales, steel from the north of England and flooring and foundations from companies based near the construction site in east London.

The facility will be available for private businesses to use once the Olympics have finished, under the management of the Olympic Park Legacy Company.
