Shower fittings to help save the planet
06/01/2010 15:45:04

Shower fittings could provide a means of reducing water wastage in residential properties.
With water meters likely to be extended to more and more homes over the coming years, water conservation is a hot topic.
It is also in tune with the focus on broader environmental issues and the desire of hard-pressed homeowners to reduce their household bills.
With this in mind, investing in a new shower fitting could make a significant difference.
Specially-designed shower heads like the ecocamel, for example, can reduce the amount of water used during a shower.
According to the manufacturer, the ecocamel could save 56,000 litres of water per year in the average family home.
That would translate into big savings for homes on water meters and it would also reduce heating bills.
Homeowners can make a number of modifications to their bathroom suites that could save them money in the long-run.
Ensuring that bathroom taps, shower trays and seals around baths are in good condition, for example, will avoid costly leaks.
