Bathroom accessories and the credit crunch
01/12/2009 16:57:44

Bathroom accessories could receive an unexpected boost from the economic downturn.
It seems that in an effort to save money, homeowners are more willing than ever to make running repairs to their bathroom suites.
Rather than pay for brand new shower fittings, baths or toilets, thrifty Britons are looking to buy new parts and in some cases are taking on the repair jobs themselves.
"It used to be a case of replacing a complete shower unit, often for the want of a simple replacement bracket," said Michael Core, e-commerce manager of bathroom supplier, IQ Living.
"Now, customers are far more willing to repair a broken bracket themselves, rather than using it as an excuse to replace the entire unit."
The credit crunch has prompted everyone to review their spending and the bathroom is as good a place as any to start.
As well as repairing rather than replacing various bathroom fittings, homeowners can cut their energy bills by ensuring that towel radiators, heated mirrors, cabinet lights and other accessories are switched off when they are not in use.
