Low-flow showers 'help be hygienic'
04/11/2008 16:27:27

Britons facing high water bills need not stop bathing, but should turn to low-flow showers instead, it has been suggested.
Christine Buske writes for the Money Saving Blog of the financial benefits to be derived from installing economical showerheads and taps.
"Before altering your personal hygiene practices, try investing a little in your kitchen and bathroom," she asserts.
"Install low-flow showerheads and faucets and you will be using less water on a daily basis."
The author adds that failing to replace older appliances with more economical new models may be false economy.
She explains that, after the initial outlay for the new device, every penny saved may be seen as being free money.
Environmental information resource Big Green Switch claims that a low-flow showerhead can use up to 70 per cent less water per shower than conventional fittings.
Furthermore, it recommends buying a device with a cut-off switch to save water while lathering up before switching the stream back on to rinse.
