The Ubbink range of Dormers provides a unique solution for creating or replacing a Dormer window.
Each Dormer comprises a set of pre-manufactured elements delivered in an individual pack ready for on-site assembly. The simplicity of the system enables a Dormer window to be built on site and be finished and weather tight in one day.
Dormer windows are a very popular way to extend an upstairs room to provide space and light, or to create a room in the roof. The Ubbink system enables this to be done with ease and speed without expensive or extensive building work.
The Dormers are supplied in complete packs ensuring everything arrives on site together with no time consuming chasing of missing parts.
The Dormer pack comprises the following:
Side walls with drainage channels
Roof with integral gutter
Sealing tapes and fixings
Comprehensive fixing instructions
The only other materials required are timber to provide a seating frame and to reinforce any cut rafters.
The side walls and roof are made from a sandwich construction comprising two layers of GRP with insulation infill providing a U-value of 0.25 W/m²K. The use of GRP provides a low maintenance and long life unit.
The side walls incorporate external roof drainage channels. The roof surface is complete and needs no further weatherproofing. A hidden integral gutter is moulded in the roof section and the assembly always ensures a fall back to the roof finish.
Side walls and roof are supplied in white as standard but can be pre-coated to any preferred colour in the factory.
The kit includes a roll of lead flashing for the front of the unit. The lead is reversible and pre-coloured grey one side and tile red on the other.
The pack can be supplied with or without a window, so that existing windows can be matched if preferred. The standard UPVC window supplied has an internal opening element and a window head ventilator.
The Dormer may be fitted in a tiled or slated roof and comprehensive fixing instructions are supplied. It is fitted in a similar manner to a roof window with side channels which drain onto a lead flashing at the front.
Planning permission may be required.
