Lytag Ltd supplies Lytag® lightweight aggregate for many and varied uses within the construction and civil engineering industries along with other specialised applications.
Lytag Ltd was formed in the 60’s following a joint research project between John Laing Research Ltd and the BRE to develop a lightweight aggregate from pfa, a by-product from coal fired power stations. The resulting successfully developed process was patented and the Lytag® LWA product registered.
Lytag® lightweight aggregate (LWA), is manufactured and supplied to the current European Standards EN 13055 parts 1 & 2, which cover many of the exacting compliance requirements for lightweight aggregate. Proven by more than 40 years of experience in the construction and civil engineering industry, due to its particular and varied attributes, Lytag® LWA is extremely versatile and can be used for a wide range of applications including structural and precast concrete, screeds, land drainage and as geotechnical fill.
Manufacture from a waste stream it is a truly environmentally friendly material, Lytag® LWA provides an excellent alternative to natural, quarried aggregate, being strong, light and consistent. As a secondary material, Lytag® lightweight aggregate is a high quality product that can help a project towards better sustainability credentials.
