Sustainable heating materials 'are not unproven'

The technology behind sustainable heating materials is proven and awaiting mass uptake, according to the owner of Castle Howard.
Simon Howard has recently made use of funding from the Carbon Trust to install ground source heat pumps at his North Yorkshire stately home.
The interest-free loan covered £60,000 of the total £160,000 cost of installation of the renewable heating materials at the property.
In turn, annual energy costs at the house have been cut by half, from £40,000 to £20,000, reports the Telegraph.
Loans for similar upgrades are made available to businesses by the Carbon Trust in sums of anywhere from £3,000 to £100,000.
They are repaid over a period lasting up to four years, using the funds saved on utility costs, with the funds underwritten by the government.
As a result, the organisation suggests that the building upgrades made should continue to yield savings for the owner, while allowing the amount borrowed to be cleared.
