Scotland 'a key area for green and sustainable building work'

Scotland could act as a green and sustainable hub for the UK, particularly in the area of environmentally-friendly jobs.
This is the opinion of Duncan McLaren, chief executive of Friends of the Earth Scotland, who stated green and sustainable building work should be a priority for the government.
'Many more green jobs - including jobs for skilled labourers - can be created by energy saving, especially by improving buildings to cut energy waste,' he said.
According to Mr McLaren, other areas in which the country could improve its environmental credentials are waste reduction and recycling.
The nation also has a great deal of renewable energy prospects, with around one-quarter of Europe's entire potential for wind power, the expert went on to say.
His comments came as Scotland's first minister Alex Salmond revealed the country could be creating as many as 60,000 green and sustainable positions over the next ten years.
