Green and sustainable buildings are 'really affordable'

Green and sustainable building is a 'really affordable' option for property owners who are looking to boost their environmental credentials.
This is the opinion of Kate Watson, organiser of industry exhibition Bristol Green Doors, who told the Guardian that some eco-friendly structures are 'inspiring and aspirational'.
Ms Watson's event, which she launched alongside fellow student Dan Weisselberg, offers individuals the chance to see 52 fully functioning green and sustainable buildings.
'It's not just going to see a house, it's about seeing green solutions in the context of a whole neighbourhood,' she explained, adding that some attendees will be encouraged to make modifications to their own residences.
The show, which runs on September 11th and 12th, gives people the chance to see real working environmentally-friendly homes, she said, rather than empty properties used for display purposes.
Eco-home owners Chris and Hilary Handel recently advised Daily Telegraph readers the most cost-effective green and sustainable building improvement is insulation.
