New windows and doors 'on the agenda for autumn'
30/07/2010 23:06:33
The autumn months could see a resurgence in interest in fitting new windows and doors from homeowners keen to draught-proof their property, according to the National Home Improvement Council (NHIC).
According to the organisation, once the warmer summer months have passed householders often adopt a 'more positive attitude' towards making changes to their property.
NHIC director Andrew Leech suggests that energy efficiency improvements such as fitting new windows and doors, cavity wall insulation and draught-proofing are likely to see a rise in interest.
Following the snowy winter months seen in early 2010, he adds that protecting against another season the same is likely to be on many people's agenda.
More cosmetic improvements may also attract greater interest as the months progress, however, Mr Leech adds.
For instance, he expects to see a greater level of activity in single-room refurbishments such as people fitting new bathrooms or updating their kitchen units.
