<title>			February at The Building Centre</title>  
<description>t’s February and a leap year so we get an extra day to play with, and we probably need it with all the events coming up this year! 

We are excited to announce the first activities associated with our 80th anniversary celebrations, remember to highlight 3 May in your diaries - we have a full day of free events taking place. We also have our normal programme of educational talks, seminars and debates on the horizon so take a look below and book for the Wed,th ahead.

<title>		News </title>
<description>The Main Gallery was packed when the Faces of British Architecture private view took place last Wed,th. Commissioned by icopal, the exhibition was launched with an audience of celebrated figures from architecture and engineering in the UK. 

The Building Centre’s 80th anniversary will take place on 3 May 2012. It’s an important date for us and we would like you to help us celebrate. We will be offering a full day of free activities, seminars and live music. Sir Peter Cook, The Construction Youth Trust, NLA, Drawing at Work, CRASH and RIBA Enterprises have all confirmed they will host events, with even more announcements to follow it’s a date not to be missed. All events will be free but many will have limited availability so please keep an eye on our website for booking details.

Ecobuild, the world’s biggest showcase of sustainable construction products takes place Tuesday 20 – Thursday 22 March 2012. We will be exhibiting at stand S1517, come and visit us there.

<title>		Exhibitions</title>
<description>An exhibition of entries from The Brick Awards will be displayed in the Vincent gallery from 23 January-31 March. The Brick Awards, which first took place in 1977 is one of Britain's most respected design competitions. 

Faces of British Architecture gives you an opportunity to put a face to the famous names in British architecture, design and engineering. This popular exhibition of portraits by Tim Soar runs until 29 February. 

New London. From skyscrapers to stadiums, housing estates to streetscapes, this NLA exhibition reveals a selection of the best new projects in the capital. On permanent display from 3 Feb.

Don’t Move, Improve! An NLA exhibition of schemes from this year’s competition, which invited architects and homeowners from across London to submit innovative and well-designed home extension, interior design and small office conversion projects. 3 February – 28 March.

<title>		Forthcoming events</title>
<description>	

New Court Rothschild Bank HQ London: Imagination and Rationality. Rothschild Bank is the first major work by OMA in UK. On Wed,day 13 February Ellen van Loon will discuss client relationships and OMA working methods, achieving the approved scheme, design alternatives and product selection. The event is free, booking is essential.

On Tuesday 14 February the Engineering Club welcomes Professor David Perrett, Past President of the Newcomen Society, to discuss 300 years of the Newcomen Engine – the first practical working steam engine. The event is free but please book in advance.

The popular Concrete Innovation series continues on 22 February with a look into three fascinating projects. Walter Jack Studio shows us a sculptural use of concrete to build the Crushed Wall. Yamaguchi-Essig showcase their New Atrium Building at Frankfurt University and Wells Mackereth Architects talk about 12 Warwick Place, a residential project in the heart of the Westminster conservation area. 

The second Feeling Good Seminar takes place on Friday 24 February. The first event was such a success that the debate went on for long after the seminar finished. Please book online for a chance to find out about the latest scientific research into successful interior design and share your thoughts with experts from a range of disciplines.

The Film Club will be showing Dreaming of a Treehouse on 8 March. The documentary addresses the Ökohaus, an experimental collective housing project in Berlin conceived by Frei Otto. 

The Drawing Gymnasium workshops help professionals to develop visualisation and communication skills through drawing. The forthcoming series is now fully booked, however we have three new courses available; an advanced course which takes place in April, the next course which starts in July and an interiors course in October. <title>	Training at The Building Centre</title>
<description>CIMCIG will be holding their latest CPD training seminar, Communicating with Construction Industry Decision Makers, on 15 February 2012. This half day seminar presents some of the latest research into communicating with construction decision makers.

On 6 March SAIM will hold the latest in their marketing seminars. Search Engine Optimisation and PPC is an intermediate course explaining how you can achieve a high page ranking on Google with both natural searches and paid advertising.

On 8 March Competitive Advantage will hold a one day seminar, Construction Industry Overview. Designed for those new to the Industry, regardless of the sector they work in, it provides an overview of the construction industry.

The London RIBA CPD Roadshow held at The Building Centre on Thursday 9 February, will provide a full day of free CPD seminars for construction and design professionals with a wide range of subjects.

On 16 February the Barbican Art Gallery host Celebrating Maggie’s, taking a look at 15 extraordinary cancer caring centres across the UK designed by leading architects. 

On 28 February UKGBC will hold the next chapter in the London 2012 Sustainability Lessons Learned Series. Delivering a Sustainable Aquatics Centre provides a holistic perspective on creating a sustainable venue from the entire project team.

Driving Growth: The impact of transport investment and delivery on the capital. This NLA half-day conference on 29 February will bring together the capital's major transport providers, developers, local authorities and their consultants to examine the future for transport investment and delivery in London. 

Jaga has announced the launch of OXYGEN, a series of talks 8-9 March aimed at improving indoor air quality for business and learning environments. Held at The Building Centre, please book online.

<description>On 20 March Product Innovation in Architecture (PIA) will hold their next lecture, Wise Building. Architects Pat Borer and David Lea will discuss how the green agenda drives innovation in the construction and development of the Wales Institute for Sustainable Education.

Stairs – Balancing High Standards of Specification with Innovative Design. This briefing from The British Woodworking Federation on 28 March introduces the industry standard for stair manufacture, verifying that products meet that standard and enabling the regulatory authorities to differentiate accredited products from those which are not.
